A postage meter is a Postal Service-approved Postage Evidencing System that uses a device to account for postage purchased and printed. As used in this part, the term meter refers to a postage meter. Federal laws regulate postal Meters. As such, it is illegal to sell postage meters to the public. Therefore, the US Postal Service (USPS) is the only one with authority to set, seal and verify meters for service.

- State that the item is a reproduction, imitation, copy, or false in the title and the description
