What are consider cosmetics?
Cosmetics are usually rubbed, poured, sprinkled, or sprayed onto the body for cleansing, beautifying, or changing the body’s appearance. The cosmetics category includes products like skin creams, perfumes, lipsticks, fingernail polishes, temporary tattoos, eye and facial makeup, shampoos, hair colors, toothpaste, deodorants, sponges, makeup sponges, brushes, and others.
The following rules must be followed for Cosmetics and Skin/Hair Care Policy
- All cosmetics must be new, unused, and unopened.
- All cosmetics should come in a manufacturer’s seal package.
- All the manufacturer’s information must be present on the packaging.
- All cosmetics must have a label:
- With name
- Directions of Use
- Content
- Ingredients
- Warning/s
- Cosmetics must be labeled only for beauty and not medicinal.
- Any applicator for makeup must be new and in the original package.
- Any applicator for shower cosmetics or bath must be new and in the original package.
- “Testers,” “Not Intended for resale,” or products directed as samples should not be placed on a sale list.
The vendor is responsible for any recall, controlled ingredients, or harmful ingredients used to make the cosmetics if the product is not FDA-approved.
